What is RSS?
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an information format used to aggregate and distribute content.
Every podcast comes with a unique RSS feed that houses all of your podcast's public data such as podcast name, type, and audio file address. In fact, podcast platforms like Spotify and Apple Podcasts use RSS to automatically update and display changes made from your hosting platform.

If your podcast introduction, podcast cover, episode audio file, episode introduction, or episode cover was not updated for an unreasonable amount of time, you may refer to the following solutions:

Under the RSS feed section, look for "Recent Updates" and select "Refresh"

We usually recommend self-backup of episode audio files. However, you may still download it through Firstory Studio and RSS:
Download from Firstory Studio
Log into your Firstory Studio account. Go to Contents Episodes Select which episode you wish to download.
Click on the three vertical dots (...) on the far right side of audio player and click Download.

Should you encounter any problem regarding your podcast on the streaming or listening platforms (e.g. podcast cover not showing, episode not updating, etc.), you may directly contact each platform's customer service. This article gathers customer service contact information of major streaming platforms, which you can always come back to when needed.

If you have just switched to Firstory OR have decided to manually distribute your podcast, you can paste your show's URL/ link onto its respective space on Firstory Studio's "Distribution" page. Remember to press "Edit" first and click "Save" after applying changes.
(Note: Pasting the wrong URL may cause updating problems with FLink.)

You can choose a cover for every episode before uploading/ publishing.
If not, your podcast cover will be used by default.
The episode cover must be square, with a size greater than 1400 x 1400 pixels.

The playlists will be displayed on the podcast's personal website. This allows you to group episodes with similar themes together, facilitating retrieval and sharing. This also strengthens Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and allows (new) listeners to easily find your podcast.
When uploading an episode on Firstory Studio, you may either select an existing playlist or create a new one under the "Playlists" section.

There are 20 major categories and plenty more sub-categories for podcasts which include art, comedy, and business, among others. You may refer to Apple Podcasts' list of categories to find one that is most suitable for you.

You may change certain information such as the podcast cover, name, creator name, description, language (used in the podcast), and category, among others.

Most streaming platforms only allow podcasts to appear under one category. For example, Apple Podcasts only recognizes the main category and sub-category through the RSS feed. However, we allow creators to select multiple categories for podcasts, and this will reflect on platforms that support multiple categories.

You may schedule the publishing date and time of your episode if you do not wish to publish immediately.
After scheduling a publishing date and time, click "Schedule Publish."

Podcasters often include some fixed information in every episode's description such as social media accounts, website links, donation and sponsorship links, the list goes on.
You may use this "Episode description template" feature in order to streamline your content creation process.
From Firstory Studio's Dashboard, click on the "Edit Podcast" button of your podcast.
Select "Advance Info" and scroll downwards to find the episode description template box.

The tags will be displayed on the podcast's personal website and will strengthen Search Engine Optimization (SEO). This allows (new) listeners to easily find your podcast. Listeners can also click on the tags to search for other episodes containing the same tag.
Enter relevant tags, separated by commas, in the "Tags" section when uploading.

From Firstory Studio, go to the "All Podcasts" page and click "Add" on the upper right corner.
Choose to start a new podcast or import an existing podcast.

Each streaming platform has their own list of categories for listeners to easily find podcasts of their interests. However, many of these platforms (such as Spotify and Apple Podcasts) does not display and list every single podcast belonging to certain categories.
The order or display is usually sorted according to the podcasts' number of listeners and popularity. Hence, a newly established podcast may not be found on this list.

You may choose to "Save as Draft" if you do not wish to publish the episode immediately.
The draft will appear under "Draft" in the "Episodes" page.

From Firstory Studio, go to the "Episodes" page to look for the episode you wish to delete.
The episode will be deleted across streaming platforms within 6 hours of deleting from Firstory Studio.

Each streaming platform will read the provided RSS after each episode upload. Under normal circumstances, each platform will be updated within an hour.

The three episode types that may be set when uploading are "Full (episode)," "Trailer," and "Bonus." This will be displayed on the streaming platform in order to inform listeners on the type of episode.
"Full" - Refers to a general full episode.
"Trailer" - Is usually a short introduction to the episode
"Bonus" - Breaks away from the usual theme

You do not have to delete the entire episode if you need to modify an episode's audio file. You may use the replacement of audio file function to apply necessary modifications without affecting episode and podcast data.
Identify and select the episode to be modified under the "Episodes" list on Firstory Studio
Click "Edit"
Click on the "x" mark on the upper right corner to delete the old audio file and upload the new file. Click "Save."

There may be instances when Apple Podcasts' web and app are not in sync. It should automatically be updated within a day.

We will convey relevant information such as reports and legal letters, among others. Firstory will not participate with regards to the negotiation and dealings between the copyright owner and copyright infringer.
