Firstory Downloads Data Standards [Updated Oct 2021]
Firstory Studio provides creators with data analytics to help them better understand audiences and podcast episode performances. With reference to the Podcast Measurement Standards set by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), we did our best to filter out and reduce data discrepancies in order to more accurately reflect your podcast episode stats.

Firstory provides spreadsheets for the number of Total Downloads and Unique Downloads of the entire podcast program or individual episodes. Choose the data and timeframe you need and download this by clicking on "Download CSV" on the lower right corner.

Firstory Studio's Dashboard shows you the complete overview of your podcast data analytics. Through these charts, you will be able to better understand your show performance (listening, audience feedback, profit, etc.) at a glance. Hover your mouse over the graphs and click "View Details" on the lower right corner to see the complete analysis for select metrics.

What does it mean to "claim" a podcast? When would I need to "claim" my podcast?
Because Firstory helps you distribute your podcast to Apple Podcasts; your show, from Apple Podcasts' perspective, belongs to Firstory (it does not). This is why the "claim" function exists for you to transfer back the podcast ownership to yourself.
If you are a user who has switched to Firstory from another hosting site or have chosen to manually distribute your podcast, you do not need to "claim" your show.Few readersUsing Chartable and other data analysis tools
If you have the URL prefix for Chartable or Podtrac, you can select "Edit podcast" "Advanced Info" from your Firstory Studio Dashboard and enter your Podcast Tracking Prefix. Don't forget to click save!

Apple Podcasts calls it "Consumption Rate." Spotify calls it "Episode Performance."
On other platforms, you may see it in the form of "Completion Rate" (Stitcher) or "Audience Retention" (Google Podcasts).
Regardless of what it's called, these represent the amount of listeners who haven't quit or left at some certain point during the episode. A higher number may indicate loyal fanbase or good quality episodes. It is also a good indicator of how effective your podcast is.

The number of Downloads is the most appropriate metric to measure performance from Firstory Studio's data tools.

The number of downloads includes data from all directories (e.g. Spotify, Apple Podcasts, KKBOX, etc.).
We've filtered out all possible repeat downloads according to the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) standards. Simply put, listening to a particular episode a day for a set of IPs and devices would only be counted as one download.
